This Sunday we are in for a special blessing with music sung and played by Paul Ingvoldstad. Paul always blesses us in mighty ways with his musical talents and I’m sure this Sunday will be special.
He’ll be playing at both services on Sunday and the prelude will be an arrangement of “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”. This hymn was written by Edwin Hatch, who was widely known as an Oxford scholar and theologian. The text of this hymn demonstrates his simplicity of faith and thought. The word for spirit in both Hebrew and Greek is the same as that for breath. Thus, the Holy Spirit is the “breath of God”, which gives life to the believer.
For the offertory, we’ll hear “You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore”. This is found in our hymnal and is based on the call to Peter, Andrew, James, and John in Matthew 4:18-22. It’s a beautiful melody by the Spanish composer Cesareo Gabarain.
